If there was ever a pair of conjoined twins that everyone knew, it was Abby and Brittany Hensel. They first appeared on Oprah in the mid-90’s, when they were only six years old. They never really stayed away from the media too long after that, eventually leading to them having their own reality show on TLC called Abby & Brittany, in 2012. Then suddenly they graduated college and completely fell off the radar. What happened?
The reason why Abby & Brittany rose to fame and were so interesting is because they were conjoined at the torso – essentially just having two heads. This makes everyday actions so much harder because each brain has control over just one arm and one leg. Imagine trying to walk while having someone else control your left leg! And these two even managed to get to the point where they could drive a car without too many issues. Meanwhile I can barely go on a 30 minute walk without spraining my ankle because just getting the one brain focused on that task is too impressive a feat for me to pull off.
